more wedding . . .

Okay, okay, more wedding planning. . .
so we've decided to focus our search for a small wedding/reception site in Austin and then host a larger reception in Houston the day after. I put my mom to work in looking for a Houston reception site. :) go mom. We're specifically looking at:
May 5-7,
May 12-14,
June 9-11, and
June 30-July 2nd weekends.

Start clearing your calendars, but clear warning we might not even settle on those dates.
And for friends of Yvonne, you can email her to ask her specifically why we chose those dates. The reason is pretty hilarious if you ask me.

Now for another poll . . . For those of you who are married, which books have you read that you would recommend in preparing for marriage?

I read Weddings for Dummies.. seriously, I did. This was back when I was engaged surreptitiously. You want it? I'll mail it to you. (I'll need to buy Traveling with a Baby for Dummies for your wedding.)

I didn't read anything except wedding magazines. Haha. Is that bad? Owell.

As for preparing for marriage, John and I went through the Five Love Languages. I'm sure yall have already gone through that book. That's about it.

i agree, 5 love languages is a good book... depending on where you're getting your pre-marital counseling done, i'm sure you'll be working through some kind of workbook... W has been using "Preparing for Marriage" (it's a brown/white book w/ a couple on the cover) - it has some good exercises

hans and i had stuff from the priest who married us. i can dig it up and send to you...and of course the 5 love languages. most of the suff is related to the catholic church but in general, the sanctity and covenant of marriage is the same across the board.

fernando and i did a devotional for dating couples (i think that was the title.. haha) and it was very good! it was for 9 weeks and the topics were love (for God), faith, purity, prayer, etc. you do each day's devotional on your own and come together on the weekend to pray and discuss. 5 love languages is a good book too (as many have said!)
